Youth Preserving Traditional Knowledge through Digital Story-Telling
You are invited to apply to come to the Digital Story Workshop
Come share and learn with youth, Elders and knowledge keepers across the 3 main family groups on Vancouver Island.
The workshop will be held in Tofino, B.C at the Echo Lodge and Botanical Gardens
November 16 12:00pm- November 18th 1:00pm
All expenses will be covered, parental consent required.
Selected applicants will be invited to a 3-day land, culture and food workshop in TOFINO
DAY 1 the workshop will focus on how food was harvested in the old way and how colonization has impacted food systems and life ways.
DAY 2 will look at ways to work towards food and lifestyle changes today while considering traditional values and history, and an introduction to digital stories.
Day 3 will focus on skills in digital media and digital story collection and creation. Participants will be supported to begin creating their own digital story.
AFTER THE WORKSHOP in Tofino Youth & Elders will be given a digital camera and asked to take their knowledge and ideas back to their home
communities and will have a few weeks to gather pictures, stories, & participate in community activities. We will all come back together to assemble our stories.
